How to boost your body confidence

How to boost your body confidence

Body confidence is the term used to describe the way that we feel about our body. It can be affected by a number of influences, including our friends and family, the media and society at large. Having poor body confidence has been linked to depression and suicide, particularly in young adults, and unfortunately it is something shared by a large number of women and men around the world.

According to Amplify, approximately 91% of women are unhappy with their bodies. It can be hard to change body confidence, especially when an ‘ideal’ body image is so rooted in general culture. If you are worried about your body, today we are going to list a number of things that you can do to boost your confidence.

Get active

For many people with low body confidence going to the gym can seem like a daunting prospect. Not only can getting active improve your health and general wellbeing, it is also proven to help you feel happier about your body image. Taking regular jogs around the block, joining sports clubs or joining the gym is a sure fire way of helping to ease away some of the fear you have about your body - and feel good whilst doing it.

Remember the positives

A lot of the time when we are remembering things people say about us and our body, we fixate on the negatives. This can be incredibly damaging to our body image and confidence, and really shape the way we look at ourselves in the mirror. Try and remember the good things you hear about your body or the things that you like about it. You could even write them down on post-it notes and stick them to your mirror (or if you have a partner, why not get them to do it?). That way whenever you are looking at yourself in the mirror you will be reminded of the good things about your body, rather than the negatives.

Try out some new clothes

We can often fall into trends with clothing and settle into clothes that are comfortable, but sometimes unflattering. Sometimes it can be an incredibly rewarding experience to go out and try some new clothes that are outside of your normal comfort zone. Bring a couple of your friends with you, so that instead of talking yourself out of things, you can have support in trying out the new things.

Don’t get hung up on weight

It is all too easy to get caught up on weight in today's society. Wherever you look, TV, newspapers etc, there is a cultural fixation on obtaining the ‘perfect’ body. Not only is this a damaging outlook on health, but for some people, obtaining the portrayed body is just not possible.

Everyone's body is different, and everyone has body imperfections and parts they aren't happy with. It is important to remember that being a weight that society wants you to be is not the same as you being healthy and happy. Try to cast a sceptical look over media images and work towards a body that you feel happy in, irrespective of weight and what other people think. Noogleberry provide body enhancement devices that are safe to use, and don't require any sort of surgery. They can help you to reach your perfect body at your own pace, in a safe way.

Treat your body

Sometimes we can spend so much time hating our body that we forget to give it some love too. Splash out on some bath bombs, oils or special products or even book yourself a nice spa evening. Not only will it make you feel good mentally, but it will help your body look and feel great.

Follow these tips and hopefully you will be able to feel more comfortable in your own skin. Whatever your body type, you deserve to feel good about yourself.
